OSHA defines a Competent Person as a “one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable conditions in the surroundings and work areas which are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous and who has authorization to take prompt corrective action.”

Why should I take Competent Person training?
If you are responsible for the supervision, implementation and monitoring of a management fall protection program, this course is designed for you. Do you supervise people at heights? If so, you need Competent Person training. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a certificate acknowledging you have met or exceeded OSHA, ANSI and CSA requirements as a Competent Person. This training includes Competent Person and Competent Inspector.

What will you learn in this training?

  • Fall Protection System Assessments
  • OSHA, ANSI Z359.2 standard and CSA regulations relating to Fall Protection
  • Fall Hazard elimination and controls
  • Fall Hazard surveys and procedures
  • Detailed equipment inspection
  • Development & implementation of Fall Protection plans/programs
  • Traditional Fall Protection
  • Fall Restraint Systems
  • Fall Arrest Systems
  • Fall Protection rescue procedures
  • Selection and use of non-certified anchorages
  • Competent Person responsibilities

Students should bring their harness and restraint lanyard to class, if they have one.
